TRAC Seeks Retraction From DOJ

(October 19, 2009) In a letter to Attorney General Eric Holder, TRAC today asked the Justice Department to retract a department statement about TRAC's recent report on the government's troubled terrorism enforcement activities. TRAC also requested a meeting with the Attorney General or responsible officials to discuss ending the department's unfortunate tactic of substituting name calling for a forthright public examination of problems highlighted by the government's own data.

In April of 1996 TRAC made a similar request to former Attorney General Reno. She and her Director of Public Affairs, Carl Stern, ultimately refused to engage in an exploration of the alleged data problems in TRAC's report that focused on the government's lax enforcement of the nation's tax laws.
