At the end of 2011, there were 7,500 cases pending. Now there are 7,686 cases in the backlog. The average time it took to resolve cases was 529 days in late 2011. Now, it is 578 days.
Those figures are the latest released by the Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse, a data research organization at Syracuse University.
TRAC's latest figures show that nationwide the immigration court backlog also is growing and had reached an all-time high of 314,147 cases by the end of June. that represents a 5.6 percent increase since September and a 20 percent jump from the end fiscal year 2010.
