An examination of Syracuse University's Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse (TRAC) shows that since 1986 when Ronald Reagan was in the White House, the federal government has prosecuted 1,444 cases of threats against presidents or others in line of presidential succession.
These shocking numbers have spiked fears over lawmakers' safety across the US with House Republican leadership planning to hold a vote this week on a bill to change how the Secret Service protects presidential candidates.
