They fled violence and poverty. Now, in Florida, asylum seekers face an endless wait
By Nancy Guan

An endless wait is the reality for many asylum seekers. Florida, which has immigration courts in Orlando and Miami, tops the nation in the backlog, with about 178,000 pending cases. It will take about four years before asylum seekers even see an immigration court judge, on par with the national average, according to the Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse at Syracuse University.
