Historic immigration wave in Allegheny County brings hope and hardship for those settling in
By Jacob Geanous

By the end of October, there were 2,657 new immigration cases this year by immigrants who listed Allegheny County addresses in their notices to appear in court, one of the first forms of paperwork a person receives after entering the country, according to data compiled by Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse at Syracuse University. With two weeks remaining in the year, the number of new cases has more than doubled the 1,203 cases filed in Allegheny County in 2022.
