To complete this report, OCJF collected various forms of data and conducted multiple interviews with community members, legal service providers, private
immigration attorneys, and community stakeholders. Additionally, we used data from the Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse at Syracuse University, the California Department of Social Services, and the VERA Institute to understand immigrant experiences in Orange County. This report uplifts this data to offer insight into the deportation system that continues to impact OC residents and families, and the available resources to defend against deportation. It also highlights the OC
immigrants’ rights movement, its victories, and challenges, and how grassroot organizations continue leading the way for social change to improve immigrant and refugee communities’ socioeconomic conditions.
