DHS Errors Lead to Dismissal of Deportation Cases. The Department of Homeland Security has recently come under fire for errors in the processing of various deportation cases. A study conducted by the Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse funded and completed by Syracuse University, has shown an increase in failures to file “Notice to Appear” cases with the respective courts. DHS recognizes errors in deportation cases and says it will correct deficiencies. A study conducted by the Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse funded and completed by Syracuse University, showed an increase in failures to file “Notice to Appear” with the necessary courts.The DHS filing error has led immigration courts to reject more than 63,000 cases in 2022, “a total of 63,586 cases have been affected in fiscal year 2022,” as reported by Univision.
