The number of people using the SmartLINK to check in with ICE has exploded quickly, according data from the Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse, or TRAC, at Syracuse University. Last April, about 1,200 individuals were using SmartLINK in San Diego and Imperial counties to check in with ICE. This past April, that number passed 5,000 – quadrupling in one year. |
