There are currently more than 8,000 deportation cases pending in San Diego County. More than 40% of those cases are not represented by an attorney, according to the Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse at Syracuse University. Historically, representation has been much lower. Since 2002, only about 12% of detained immigrants who faced deportation in San Diego courts were represented by an attorney, TRAC data show. |
