U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has paused deportation flights to Ukraine amid the continuing violence there, an agency spokesman said Thursday.
About 4,000 Ukrainians are currently fighting deportation cases in the U.S., according to government data tracked by the Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse at Syracuse University. Still, deportations to Ukraine aren't common: About 100 people a year were deported back to the country between 2018 and 2020, government figures show.
The agency didn’t respond to questions about how recently it had carried out deportations to Ukraine.
