Otay Mesa Detention Center has the most COVID-19 cases of any immigration facility in the U.S. now

A report based on public record requests found that ICE detainees with criminal convictions are more likely to have misdemeanors or petty offenses than serious violations.
That report, published last week by the Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse of Syracuse University based on data from July 2019, found that about 9 percent of detainees at Otay Mesa Detention Center had committed serious offenses.
