Recently released immigration data from Syracuse University shows the number of pending immigration cases at the federal immigration court in Bloomington has risen 71% since 2018.
The data shows there were 13,703 pending cases in the Minnesota court at the end of fiscal year 2019. There were 8,015 cases in the year before. There are nearly a million pending immigration cases nationwide.
According to the U.S. Department of Justice, there are six immigration judges on the court, which has jurisdiction over all cases in Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota.
