Rethinking the “Gold Standard” of Racial Profiling: §287(g), Secure Communities and Racially Discrepant Police Power

Recently released data show that whereas some 140,000 individuals were transferred to federal immigration custody by state and local police through the §287(g)program over the ++past decade, more than 1 million individuals have been transferred to federal custody from county jails through programs such as Secure Communities (Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse, 2018).
