Recently released data show that whereas some 140,000 individuals were transferred to federal immigration custody by state and local police through the §287(g)program over the ++past decade, more than 1 million individuals have been transferred to federal custody from county jails through programs such as Secure Communities (Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse, 2018).
