The number of migrants facing prosecution for illegal entry has been climbing steadily in recent months, but the vast majority of border crossers still don’t face criminal charges despite the Trump Administration’s “zero tolerance” stance, according to a new study.
There were 9,216 referrals for prosecution from Customs and Border Protection in May along the southwest border, up 11.1 percent from the previous month and up 44.7 compared to March, according to the Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse (TRAC) at Syracuse University.
