According to the Transactional Records Access
Clearinghouse (TRAC, 2017), a Syracuse University
nonprofit, the overall number of pending cases in the United States for 2016 was 496,704 and 610,524 in 2017, thus, a 22.9% increase. The State of Texas had the second highest pending cases, with 87,088 pending cases in 2016 and 100,510 pending cases in 2017; thus, a 15.4% increase. The State of California had the highest number of pending cases, with 93,466 in 2016 and 114,974 in 2017, thus, as 23% increase TRAC. The immigration court in the State of Texas, which was the focus of this study, had 39,968 pending cases in 2016 and 48,701
