Protetected status pushed

During the past two years, immigration judges denied more than 85 percent of the 1,145 asylum petitions filed by Mexicans in U.S. immigration courts, according to government data analyzed by the Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse at Syracuse University. By comparison, some 60 percent of Colombians who had their asylum cases heard by a judge during the same time frame were denied.
