By Adolfo Flores

Despite a drop-off in new immigration court cases for unaccompanied minors this year, the backlog for their cases has continued to rise, according to the Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse at Syracuse University, which collects statistics from federal records. The backlog peaked at 88,069 at the end of August; about 16,700 of those are cases that began in 2014. Overall, the immigration court backlog was at an all-time high of about 621,051 as of the end of September.
