DHS Unveils Sweeping Plans to Ramp Up Deportations

The Justice Department has contended that nearly a third of immigrants suspected of entering the country illegally absconded before their next court date between 2010 and 2014, but the American Civil Liberties Union and some legal scholars have questioned that figure. An analysis by Syracuse University Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse pegged the figure closer to 14 percent and said it falls further when people are outfitted with GPS ankle monitors and similar tracking devices.
