Foreclosure lawsuits are on the rise, but why in Texas?
By Aaron Davis

The northern district of Texas came in 10th place last month on a list for the highest foreclosure lawsuits per capita, which some find puzzling considering that foreclosures are down nationally and state-wide. According to the case-by-case information analyzed by the Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse (TRAC), there were 505 total new cases filed nationwide in March, which is up 12.7 percent over the previous month, which only had 448. For the month of March, there were 17 filings for foreclosure lawsuits in federal court for the northern district of Texas, which amounted to 2.4 suits filed for every one million people. This number was a relatively large jump from the 7 filed in March of 2015, but nothing compared to Nevada’s 45 lawsuits filed in one month.
