More and more counties don't honor ICE requests
By Heather J. Carlson

The number of ICE detainer requests issued in the U.S. has steadily declined, according to data gathered by Syracuse University's Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse (TRAC). The organization found that immigration detainers issued by ICE dropped by 39 percent between fiscal year 2012 and March 2014. The reduction in ICE detainer requests was even more dramatic in Olmsted County. The number of requests sent to Olmsted County plummeted by 50 percent from 126 in fiscal year 2012 to 63 in fiscal year 2013.
