An analysis of government data from 2005to 2014 by researchers at Syracuse University's Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse found that nine out of 10 children who showed up in immigration court without lawyers ended up being deported.
Nearly half of the children with legal representation were allowed to remain legally in the U.S., the June report found.
Children appeared in court with lawyers in about 43 percent of the 100,000 cases analyzed by TRAC.
