Child Sex Trafficking: Federal prosecutions increasing
By Brian Rokos

The Crime Report says the U.S. Department of Justice is on pace to prosecute four times the number of child sex trafficking crimes in 2013 than it did during 2008, according to the Syracuse University Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse. The Department of Justice pursued 130 new child trafficking cases during the first nine months of fiscal year 2013, putting the department on pace for 173 prosecutions this year. That figure represents a 394 percent increase from five years ago, when there were 35 child sex trafficking prosecutions, according to TRAC.
