Residents in Montgomery, in the red heart of a red state in the Middle District of Alabama, are 3 times as likely to have tax cases referred to federal prosecutors than the average Joe in Anytown, USA, according to AL.com analysis of 2012 federal records gathered and maintained by the Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse in Syracuse, NY.
