Reporting from Hebronville, Texas, AP reporter Lynn Brezosky talked with ranchers, immigration rights activists and other along the Texas border about their first-hand impressions of the government's current efforts to control the flow of illegal immigrants coming from Mexico. The article ran in the Boston Globe and other papers around the country. To get an overview about this important challenge, Brezosky contacted Linda Roberge, a senior research fellow at TRAC, who cited government data showing that the number of Border Patrol agents does not seem to be directly related to its effectiveness in apprehending people.
