Nearly six years ago,
Attorney General Janet Reno persuaded Congress to pass a law making
it a federal crime to blockade or to commit acts of violence at
abortion clinics. But in early 1999, Jacqueline Soteropoulos used
TRACFED to examine what the government was doing with the law.
Her finding: at both the national level and in her back yard,
the law was little used. In fact, the U.S. Attorney in Tampa had
not prosecuted a single one of the seven referrals made to him
under the law since its passage. Her front-page article ran on
February 3, 1999.
