In August of 1999, TRAC mounted a public ATF web site disclosing that the level of criminal enforcement of firearms laws by the agency was sharply lower. The key finding, which noted that ATF staffing also was somewhat lower, was based on TRAC's analysis of data from the Executive Office of U.S. Attorneys. On November 4, 1999, TRAC Co-Director Susan B. Long, testified before the subcommittee about the decline.
