(24 Jan 2003) Judging Federal Prosecutors: New data on our TRACFED site (available January 24, 2003) gives subscribers an online way to examine the performance of individual assistant U.S. attorneys (AUSAs) in office from FY 1986 to FY 2002. A summary report focusing on wide variations in the percentage of investigative matters that AUSAs decline to prosecute is also available. With the new Prosecutors Tool users for the first time ever can quickly determine how selected AUSAs have exercised their discretionary powers in handling both criminal and civil matters. Individual case-by-case listings as well as statistics on counts of referrals handled, percent declined, kinds of cases handled, etc. Compare the sentences achieved by one prosecutor with the sentences of all prosecutors in the district or the U.S.
