Federal Prosecution Data for July 2009
(14 Oct 2009) The latest case-by-case data from the Justice Department show that in July 2009 the government reported 14,706 new prosecutions. This represents a decrease of 6% from the previous month, and is virtually unchanged from a year ago. The immigration category continues to dominate the DOJ's caseload, accounting for 56% of all new cases filed in July in U.S. Federal Court. The second largest category was drugs, accounting for 33% of new prosecutions.
