TRAC-Reports
More Guilty Verdicts for ATF
(28 Aug 2008) According to enforcement data provided TRAC by the Justice Department, the percentage of cases referred for prosecution by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) that resulted in a conviction increased to 62% in FY 2007, up from just 46.2% five years ago.

The data further show wide variation among 90 federal judicial districts. In 2007, 88% of ATF referrals in Kansas resulted in a guilty verdict, compared with only 25.5% in Nevada. The district with the greatest percentage increase in ATF guilty verdicts over five years is New Jersey, which rose to 69.4% in 2007, up from 17% in 2003.
