Citizens Need to Know Who Works for Them

The unlawful withholding of information about more than one third of the nation's federal employees caught the eye of the editors at the Concord Monitor. "No administration in history," the editors said, "not even the famously paranoid Richard Nixon, has been as reflexively secretive as President Bush's." The current position, the editors added, "has no place in a free and democratic society. The courts should move quickly to force the administration to open its books."
