Diffusion of Soft Immigration Law: Evidence from Asylum Adjudication in the Wake of Matter of A-B-Matter of A-B-
By Patrick Kennedy

There are roughly 55 total immigration courts, although some adjudicate very low numbers of cases. Although there is monthly data for each of the courts on grant rate, number of cases, denial rate, and rate of other relief, this article focuses on the 29 largest courts, where most cases are decided. This data is gathered from the Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse (TRAC), which is a program run through Syracuse University. The TRAC program submits requests under the Freedom of Information Act to the Executive Office of Immigration Review to obtain administrative records for all relevant asylum hearings. TRAC records are broken down monthly and available for each immigration court and judge............[Citing TRAC data and reports].
