About 42,000 MPP cases were closed by an immigration judge, according to data compiled by the Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse of Syracuse University, or TRAC. Of those, 32,510, or 78%, resulted in removal orders. Two-thirds of those removals came because the asylum seeker wasn't present for a hearing and a judge ordered the migrant deported in absentia. |
