Biden inherits Trump 1.3 million cases pending immigration courts

A report from TRAC indicates that even if the incoming administration were to halt enforcement of immigration law altogether, it would take Joe Biden longer than his first term in office to carry out lagging cases, assuming a pre-pandemic resolution rate of the coronavirus. The average wait time for a hearing is currently 1,642 days, or 54 months. For half of those waiting their turn, the wait will be at least 1,425 days, or 47 months, and for the 5 percent who have been waiting the longest, the time is now at least 3,558 days, almost 10 years.
