Alleged Rapist ‘Immediately’ Pursued Victim After Release, ICE Says
By Bowen Xiao

ICE has stated that approximately 70 percent of the arrests the agency carries out take place after they are notified about an illegal alien being released from local jails or state prisons. “In fiscal year 2019, ICE has lodged more than 160,000 detainers with local law enforcement agencies,” according to the agency. Meanwhile, the backlog in U.S. immigration court cases has exceeded 1 million, the Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse, a research organization at Syracuse University said in September. As of the end of August, the court’s backlog of active cases reached 1,007,155, the data showed. This year, in particular, the backlog of pending court cases has surged when compared to previous years.
