Immigration detentions up in Boone County

From 2006 to 2009, the backlog of cases in Missouri’s immigration courts more than doubled from about 1,700 to more than 3,600, according to data released Feb. 7 by the Transaction Records Access Clearinghouse, staffed by Syracuse University researchers. In 2010, the number of cases fell to 3,432. As of September, cases in Missouri immigration courts took an average of 335 days to be completed, up from 185 days in 2008.
