Report says non-immigration prosecutions in federal courts falling
By Morgan Loew

A new report from a government watchdog organization alleges that while federal prosecutors have increased their case filings against illegal border crossers, the number of non-immigration cases filed has dropped. The time frame at issue coincides with the Trump Administration's zero-tolerance policy against illegal border crossers, and it seems to support the findings of a CBS 5 Investigation in June. According to the report, compiled by Syracuse University's TRAC organization, in March of this year, just 14 percent of federal prosecutions in the Southwest were for non-immigration related crimes. The report states that by June, that number had dropped to six percent.
