77,000 cases involving migrant kids are stuck in limbo. Splitting up families will make it worse.

A judge can grant a child asylum, but Susan Long, co-director of TRAC, a Syracuse University organization that maintains a database of immigration cases, wrote in an email that USCIS is the organization that generally awards the visas—meaning the number of visas granted can differ substantially from the number of cases where a judge awarded relief.
