Data Shows Asylum Approval Rates Differ from City to City in Immigration Courts
By Mari Payton and Tom Jones

Immigrants who are scared for their safety can be granted legal asylum in the United States but court data analyzed NBC 7 Investigates, and The Investigative Unit out of the Bay Area, raises the question of whether asylum is granted based on the merits of each case or by the Judge’s beliefs who is making the decision. Data collected by the Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse (TRAC) shows a wide gap in the granting of asylum from immigration court to court across the country.
