A massive ICE raid in this town didn't stop undocumented labor — or illegal immigration

Calel, 42, rode on any bus or truck that would take him through Mexico, encountering coyotes and Mexican federal agents on the way — and paying his way out of trouble. It's hard to track the number of people who get deported from the US and cross the border again. But Calel certainly isn’t the only one. The Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse reports that about 140,000 of the people deported since 2003 were Guatemalans who have been deported more than once.
