Federal judge OKs settlement in ICE detention lawsuit

The controversial practice of county jails holding inmates at the request of the immigration agency has been declining in New Mexico in recent years, according to data collected by the Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse at Syracuse University. Often, the inmates were detained before the federal government filed charges accusing them of violating immigration law.
