Far from being lax, the Obama administration has sharply increased the deportation of illegal immigrants. According to Syracuse
University’s Transactional Records Clearing House, the number of illegal immigrants deported in the first three-quarters of the
current fiscal year is nearly double the number deported in the same period of the last year. The administration has focused on
aliens who have committed serious crimes, deporting 136,714 “criminal aliens” in the first nine months of the current fiscal year,
compared to 85,334 in 2008.
