Lawsuits Challenge Detention of Central American Families Seeking Asylum

At the end of January, ICE reported 1,000 mothers and kids were still in detention. Without an attorney, they have little hope for release or asylum. In more than 7,000 family immigration cases recently studied by the Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse at Syracuse University, 99 percent of those who lacked a lawyer were ordered deported.
