Healthcare Fraud Cases Hit All-Time High
By Bradford Pearson

Federal prosecutors filed a record number of healthcare fraud cases last year, according to a new report. Syracuse University’s Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse analyzed the latest available data from the Justice Department, and found, within the past fiscal year, a 3 percent rise in prosecutions— from 366 in FY2012 to 377 in FY2013. The 2013 number is up 7.7 percent from five years ago, and 9.9 percent from the 343 prosecutions reported in 2003.
