Report: Nevada deportations more likely
By Steve Timko

A two-month snapshot of U.S. immigration detentions shows 77 percent of those picked up in Nevada were deported with threat of legal action if they came back. That’s 11 percentage points higher than the national average and higher than neighboring states of Utah and California. Only 50 percent were removed in California. The data was made available last month in a report by Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse. It looked at 66,305 people detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) last November and December and how they left custody. The clearinghouse released statistics on 30 states because it did not feel the rest had enough detained to make a statistically valid comparison.
