The massive and hugely complex job of controlling the borders of the United States involves many distinct tasks. One of them is determining whether the request of a particular asylum seeker will be approved or denied. A special TRAC report based on the analysis of close to 300,000 cases found a large judge-by-judge disparity in these decisions. More than 120 news organizations ran articles about the findings.
